Well, with the last two rants, I am pretty down on the whole Internet Depression we're going through, but hey, there's one bright spot for me at least (and people in the Lower Mainland part of British Columbia. Quick.com.

For a year or two, I've been looking jealously at youse Americanos south of the border and all your food and stuff delivery services online. Grocery.com, Kazoo.com, those types of stores. Sure, they've all gone tits up these days because they were run terribly, but hey, I just discovered that Vancouver and the region has a new service following this model - Quick offers it. Mainly groceries now, but I see them branching out.

Quick is a bit different from the (failed) US versions - they charge a fee for the service. Personally I don't have a problem with them charging a delivery fee if the prices they offer are comparable to at least Safeway (one of the more expensive grocery store chains up here). In fact, I think it's ludicrous to expect the delivery to be free. How valuable's your time? I know mine is very valuable these days. If I can order most of my groceries online in 20 minutes and have it delivered an hour later, instead of spending 30 minutes in the car, an hour in the store, and 20 minutes in the lineup, it's worth the $5 to me.

I haven't tried them yet - we just bought a lot of groceries. But I plan to this week.
