The drink for the new year:

The Vesper Martini, modified. The classic Vesper (Ian Flemming's favourite drink), with a modern twist out of necessity. Kina Lillet hasn't been available for decades, and I don't really want to put drops of quinine in my cocktails, so I make it thus:

2oz Plymouth Gin
1/2oz Luksosowa Vodka
1/2oz Lillet (white, actually light gold)
two dashes blood orange bitters (to replace the Kina part of the ancient Lillet).
Shaken quite vigorously, double strained into a chilled, classic martini glass, with a healthy lemon twist.

Fantastic, classic cocktail.
