| BALANCE BOARD WII GAME I'D LIKE TO SEE - BOXING! |
Jul 26, 2008, 4:00pm
I wrote a bit about this over on the Balance Board Blog, but I figured I'd write a bit more here.
I'd really like to see a full blown Nintendo-designed, Mii based Wii Boxing School game.
Now, I know that 2K something sports is coming out with some goofy Don King boxing, and that other games (like the Jill whatsername game) will have boxing elements.
But I really like the implementation of Nintendo's own boxing in Wii Sports and Wii Fit. The graphics are smooth, the rooms are inviting, and what little training and regimens there are in these games are engaging and well executed. And they involve your own Miis.
The problem with both Wii Sports and Wii Fit is that there's not enough. There's only three routines in Wii Fit, Basic, Advanced and Expert, and the expert's too little a workout once you do it 20 times. In Wii Sports, there's no footwork, except for the footwork you make up yourself, and to be honest, the WiiMote + Nanchuk in Wii Sports doesn't register very well (it does much better in Wii Fit). About 30-40% of my boxing punches in Wii Sports don't register.
I'd love to see a game that incorporates everything Wii Sports and Wii Fit has for boxing, and adds about 80-90% more. My wishlist includes the following:
Rhythm Boxing Aerobic Exercise - at least 20 levels of advancement and / or conditioning levels - at least 20 or 30 boxing patterns - ability to completely customize a workout routine - includes a warm up, cool down - free rhythm boxing mode, where you set the time, set warm up, cool down, and the game completely randomizes the patterns involved
Accuracy challenge - games that use the new WiiMote accuracy thingie plugin, and gauge exactly where you punch - games that gauge how hard you punch - games that incorporate both of the above
Training mode - games that actually do real boxing training exercises
Boxing Mode - games that put you in the ring against opponents of various skills - golden gloves style competitions - online play against other similar level boxers (how cool would that be?)
I'd pay serious coin for a game / exergame like this. What do you think?
