Over the years WebMotif has evolved into a very different company than the one that began 13 years ago. The Company has always been in the business of developing and enhancing corporate images, but has progressed to keep pace with the way companies want to promote that image. This attitude and adaptability has kept WebMotif growing strongly and on the cutting edge of a fast-paced medium: the World Wide Web.
The 1980s
In 1986 Mark Prince founded WriteProcessing, a small firm specializing in formatting and organizing essays, thesis papers and reports. Within a few years WriteProcessing expanded its scope to include graphic design: prepress, layout and illustration. This shift attracted a broader range of corporate clients.
The Early 1990s
After a brief hiatus when Mark left Writeprocessing to head up the graphic design and audio video department for a mid-size consulting firm, the Company was resurrected in 1992 under the name of WriteDesign. Projects now consisted primarily of corporate identity systems, restaurant menus, annual reports and print advertising.
By the end of 1994, WriteDesign recognized the emergence of a new medium for the firms design talents: the Internet. Mark aggressively pursued the basics of HTML coding and began attracting web developers to WriteDesign. The Company's focus was changing once again.
The Late 1990s
1995 marked the launch of the first few corporate websites. At this point WriteDesign was a pioneering firm in web site design and gained a great deal of local press. By 1997 the bulk of the Company's work was online and the Company changed its name once again; WebMotif Net Design Services was born.
1999 has been WebMotif's best year, almost doubling the number of web sites and corporate Intranets launched. Mark has been featured on several web technology web sites for his innovative table effects, and two client sites were featured on national television.
In spite of the growth and attention, Mark Prince has maintained a small highly skilled team of Internet and design professionals. This was important to continue the one-on-one attention to all clients. This client focus has paid off. Almost all business is generated from word of mouth recommendations.
With strong graphic design skills as the basis of all sites, the result is Internet sites that not only use cutting edge coding techniques, they are pleasing to the eye and easy to read and navigate, encouraging visitors to stay longer and read more.
